How did we become NARU Landscaping?
NARU Landscaping is a Bristol and Bath-based family business, built on passion, resilience, and purpose.
I founded NARU with my son — and the name itself is a blend of ours, the first two letters of me, Nathan and my son Ruben, and so we became NARU. A daily reminder of what truly matters: family, purpose, and creating spaces that bring people back to themselves.
We later discovered that NARU is a Japanese word meaning 'New Beginnings' which felt like fate when you hear our back story....
After 20 years serving in specialist police operations, I was medically retired with PTSD and at a loss of what to do next. I had been gardening and landscaping on and off part time since my early 20's but thought the moment had passed to start a business doing what I loved.
My son found himself at a crossroads. He had followed one trade into a career, shaped by the challenges that lockdown placed on so many young people — but deep down, he knew it wasn’t the right path.
Enter here a father and son chat at our local pub that was supposed to be me saying "what's your career plan?" 30 minutes later we became NARU Landscaping and haven't looked back since. Our New Beginning! (The pub? The White Harte, Bridgeyate)
Together, we bring precision, care, and craftsmanship to every garden we design. More so we feel our purpose is to bring a positive emotional response to people through their outdoor space.
